These words greet us year after year. But, nothing can compare to the words that end up greeting us during the State Fair of Texas from our own participants. The very phrases uttered by one of our own live on, like "Is that ketchup?" or "I still can't get over the size of that horse". I'll show in pictures what words cannot suffice and then mention that pictures can't begin to portray the event either as sometimes the event is quicker than the camera...
"They have
hot tubs so I may go test a hot tub if it rains real hard. Then I won't care if
I'm
wet." -Jeff Turner on 10/5/04 about the possibility of rain the next
day.
While going into the Taste & See pavilion, we were stopped to have our picture taken and promised it wouldn't cost anything to have our photo snapped. Jeff stated "I need to get out of here before I lose my soul".
2003's trip was on a cloudy cool day and saw things like Brian riding a steer backwards, Scot getting behind the wheel of a race car, Scot purchasing a Dallas Morning News subscription, and everyone seeing the tiny horse. OK, it wasn't tiny which raised a lot of questions... We also attempted to lift bottles with flimsy sticks and string, flipped rings onto coke bottles (well, we pelted the sides of coke bottles with rings) and watched each other climb precarious rope ladders.
This year included the cool sand sculptures, Randy riding the T-Rex, giant bubble making devices and more.
The most famous trip of all - this included famous quotes of "Is that ketchup", "I still can't get over the size of that horse" and "You'll never know...". This was Brian's first trip to the State Fair as well. We checked our blood pressure and found out we're all incredibly normal.
